7 SIGNS WHICH PROVE THAT YOU HAVE LEADERSHIP QUALITIES

The term ‘leader’ is the most casually used textually & verbally across the globe’s length and breadth. May it be politics, corporate world, government or non-government organisations, or any local business.

A leader differentiates from others through excellent communication skills, discipline, and being grateful to followers. Qualities such as motivation, inspiration, leading from the front, or setting examples are leaders’ identities. John Maxwell has rightly said – Leadership is influence – nothing more, nothing less.

So, what are the obvious signs of a leader? Let’s check.

1. Self-control:

Self-control the ability to command thoughts, feelings, language, actions to achieve objectives. A leader makes tough decisions and handles difficult situations. During trying times, the leader is reasonable and patient for the success of followers, organisation, or association. Without using pressure tactics, the leader looks for people who can respond well to conflict through self-control. The best example of a self-controlled leader is the Honourable Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi. Mr. Modi led, united our nation during the Covid-19 crisis and has proved that self-control can help achieve breakthroughs.

2. Others before self:

A good leader puts others before self, works as a team player in each department of the organisation, appreciating people’s efforts and contribution to achieving desired goals while empowering them. In return, the team supports each other and puts extra effort into helping others in need. Bill Gates rightly said – As we look ahead into the next century, leaders will be those who empower others. Putting others before self, allows the leader to empower followers to realise their potential, maximise productivity, leading to overall success.

3. Choose the right and drop the wrong:

A litmus test of a leader pops-up when choosing the right and dropping the wrong. A sound, experienced leader sets an example by practicing servant leadership, promotes principles, and adds value to the system. To demonstrate leadership qualities, the leader exhibits integrity, truthfulness, and motivation. Situations can be tricky, but a leader inspires with his principles without compromising, refrains from making false promises, or taking shortcuts.

4. Believe in people:

Belief works wonders. Closely linked to choosing the right and dropping the wrong, a true leader invests in believing people, gives trust even before it is earned. It promotes confidence and helps people perform their duties without losing hope. The leader is honest and garners trust, respect, and reliability from people. Another aspects of believing people are – people attain a sense of self-assurance self-esteem, and it helps them trust – their presence can make a difference.

5. Lead with passion:

One of the most significant signs of a leader – leading with passion. Leaders cherish the people they work with, exhibit care, and are concerned about their well-being – not just for work but by developing valuable associations. Aside from achieving their goals and objectives, passionate leaders enhance productivity and ensure the team is committed to the shared vision. Passionate leaders instil motivation and help to achieve the desired goals.

6. Uphold truth:

The position or rights of a leader increase the chances of manipulating matters related to the masses. Corrupt leaders manipulate the truth to their advantage, triggering mistrust among followers. On the other hand, genuine leaders uphold truth, do what is right instead of acting right. It gives hope for followers and renews confidence in the facts. A leader is truthful with the followers and the progress of the organisation.

7. Listen more:

A good leader listens more, is ready to take on questions, and ensures to answer them patiently to the point in fewer words. Wayward or out-of-point speech are not the signs of a true, gentle leader. A good leader listens to people with attention and openness. It helps understand people, their perspectives which help build trust and relations. Good leaders communicate with care, focus on the person, and accept what is being said.

Today, the world needs leaders who are hopeful of a better future for every human on the earth and are working on achieving the dreams of everyone.
